BBC Lifestyle Set to Give Viewers Exclusive Glimpses into Some of Mauritius’ Most Exotic Properties from 16 October at 20:00

[Johannesburg, 03 October 2024] – It’s all about gorgeous beaches, stunning sunsets, and luxury homes on BBC Lifestyle’s newest addition to its property-reality franchise, Listing Mauritius. This 10-part series, which is set to premiere on Wednesday, 16 October 2024, at 20:00 on DStv Channel 174, is an exciting continuation of the dazzling franchise that first caught the attention of South African audiences with Listing Jozi, the country’s first property reality show, followed by Listing Cape Town.

After receiving wide acclaim for showcasing South Africa’s most luxurious properties, the Listing franchise has now ventured beyond the South African border to the idyllic island of Mauritius.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to give our viewers more of what they love with Listing Mauritius. The homes, the scenery, and the people are simply extraordinary, and we’re excited to bring this magic to screens across South Africa,” said Nico Nel, Producer of Listing Mauritius.

With exotic landscapes, the perfect tropical weather, and cities steeped in cultural richness, Mauritius is often seen as a dream vacation destination. However, Listing Mauritius reveals how the island has also emerged as a premier location for luxury real estate for global investors – from luxury villas to boutique hotels to beachfront penthouses.

In the first five episodes, viewers are introduced to the luxury real estate agents who specialise in helping clients find their dream homes on the island, offering exclusive inside looks at stunning new properties across Mauritius.

Of course, no series is complete without a little drama, and Listing Mauritius follows the agents as they navigate high-stakes challenges and marathon property tours along the West and North coasts. For those who love a touch of history, the series also takes viewers on a journey through historical properties in Port Louis, alongside showcasing new luxury homes in Pointe d’Azur.

The BBC has played a pivotal role in creating more opportunities for South African production companies to contribute to its local lineup. PD Production, the team behind the stunning visuals of Listing Jozi and Listing Cape Town, was once again entrusted with capturing the glamour of Mauritius, bringing their exceptional filming and production expertise to the new series.

When asked about the main difference between filming in Mauritius and South Africa, Producers Nico Nel and Trevor Kaplan said, “In South Africa, we often complain about traffic. Mauritius is on another level. Although not always necessarily due to heavy traffic, the roads are tiny, and travelling takes much longer on the island than in South Africa. Daily, a 60km trip that would take 30 minutes in Johannesburg would take 2 hours on the island because you can only travel at 30 – 50km/h through the rural roads and towns.”

When discussing the show, Nel and Kaplan said viewers can expect to see some familiar Mauritian faces, as many of the clients are well-respected industry and business professionals on the island.

Don’t miss the premiere of Listing Mauritius on Wednesday, 16 October 2024, at 20:00 – exclusively on BBC Lifestyle (DStv Channel 174). Or catch up with the repeat episodes, airing every Thursday at 17:00 or on demand with DStv Catch Up.
