Johannesburg, South Africa — The Betway Summer Cup returns to Turffontein Racecourse on
Saturday, 29 November 2025, with a fresh theme and renewed purpose, Jozi Rising, unveiled at
LevelThree’s panoramic rooftop location in Kramerville on Tuesday, 19 August 2025.
Originally named the Johannesburg Handicap and inaugurated on 15 June 1887, the Betway Summer
Cup is Johannesburg’s oldest and most storied race and the marquee meeting of the 4Racing
calendar. As Gauteng’s premier race day, hosted at Turffontein, a racecourse almost as old as the
City itself, the Betway Summer Cup is worth R6 million, adding to its prestige by making it the
richest race in the country.
The event is proudly headlined by Betway, with support from TAB, Racing Today, Racing 240, New
Turf Carriers and BET International, — all committed to enhancing the race day experience and
broadening its reach.
