Skyjack Live in Melville
Two Nights only at chiesa di PAZZO LUPi
World-class jazz meets unpretentious dining in one of Melville’s most atmospheric, reinvented church venues
Johannesburg, 27 November 2025: This December, Melville sets the stage for a cultural weekend as internationally acclaimed jazz ensemble Skyjack returns to South Africa with two exclusive, intimate performances at chiesa di PAZZO LUPi on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 December 2025.
Fresh off a European tour, Skyjack brings its unmistakable cross-continental energy to Melville for this limited run. The quintet unites three major voices in South African jazz – Shane CooperKyle Shepherd, and Jonno Sweetman with Swiss powerhouses Marc Stucki and Andreas Tschopp creating a sonic palette that is adventurous, soulful and transportive.
Their performances in Melville form the opening weekend of their national tour and promise a powerful, immersive journey through new material from their 2024 release Light Cycle, alongside earlier favourites.
Hosting Skyjack’s exclusive Melville shows, chiesa di PAZZO LUPi is quickly becoming one of Johannesburg’s most intriguing new spaces – a venue where multidimensional wellness, pomegranate trees and a delightful outdoor courtyard converge with the sounds of South African musicians.
Designed for people who appreciate both artistry and atmosphere, the venue’s intimate scale makes the performance feel close and deeply resonant – a perfect pairing for Skyjack’s improvisational depth.
“Performing in a space like chiesa di PAZZO LUPi brings out a different kind of energy,” says bassist Shane Cooper. “There’s an intimacy here and every note feels closer. It’s the kind of venue where the music becomes a shared experience, not just a performance.”
“We truly pinch ourselves with the privilege of hosting talent of this calibre at a space that began by chance,” says owner Nicky Rofail. “What began by chance has grown into a much-loved music venue and a remarkable addition to Melville’s creative landscape.”
Skyjack’s appearance at chiesa di PAZZO LUPi is more than a concert – it’s an informally curated Melville experience. Guests can savour the venue’s signature piadine, delicate Italian flatbreads filled with fresh, flavourful ingredients, alongside other simple-yet-delicious dishes, all while parked securely in the free adjacent parking area. And if, after two sets of beautiful tunes, you find yourself wanting more, simply set out into Melville’s iconic cafes and after-dark hideaways.
Doors open at 6pm with the show kicking off at 7:30pm.
Tickets are R200 on Quicket or R250 at the door.
