Thakzin Unveils Debut Album Gods Window Pt.1 – A Collaborative Sonic Journey Rooted in Heritage, Unity, and Vision
Johannesburg, Thursday, 25 September 2025 – South African producer and visionary artist Thakzin announces the release of his long-awaited debut album, Gods Window Pt.1. Across 18 tracks, the project invites listeners on a spiritual and cultural journey that honours the past, embraces the present, and boldly imagines the future.

A Symbolic Offering
Echoing the panoramic landmark, Gods Window Pt.1 symbolises the third eye, ancestral vision, and a spiritual gaze into both past and future. Conceived as a “no-skip” listening experience, the album unfolds like a Sunday course meal, rich, layered, and nourishing.
“This is more than an album,” Thakzin explains. “It’s a ceremonial offering. Meditative, ecstatic, and inquisitive. It’s a cultural bridge where diverse voices, traditions, and moments come together to create something timeless.”

A Three-Part Journey
Gods Window Pt.1 embodies a three-part journey through African sound and identity:

  • Past: Honouring foundational African rhythms and South Africa’s cultural legacy, channeling traditions inherited through drum, voice, and dance.
  • Present: Rooted in Thakzin’s personal evolution, his community, and fearless sonic experimentation, reflecting both struggles and triumphs of today.
  • Future: A bold imagining of sound and identity through 3Step and beyond, reshaping global consciousness through African creativity.

Gods Window Pt.1 embodies the truth that the real power of music lies in unity, in exchange, in collaboration, and in togetherness. It is within these connections that we grow, that our stories expand, and that the frequencies carried in our hearts are amplified. This album is not only a reflection of one artist’s vision but a collective offering. Proof that when voices join, something greater than the sum of its parts emerges.

3Step: A State of Mind
Pioneered by Thakzin, 3Step is not a rigid genre but a music philosophy. An organic hybrid of Afro House, Amapiano, and Afro-Electronic energy. Born during the pandemic and crystallised with the breakout track The Magnificent Dance (2022), 3Step embodies trust in intuition, multiplicity, and sonic honesty. It is both a cultural movement and a state of mind.

Collaboration at the Core
Unity and collaboration form the heart of Gods Window Pt.1. Recorded between Johannesburg, Cape Town, and cities across Africa and the world while touring, the album features contributions from some of the continent’s most influential voices. Each collaborator is treated not as a feature but as a co-creator, weaving their stories and artistry into the fabric of the album.
“This project exists because of community,” says Thakzin. “It’s about the voices that shape us, the ancestors that guide us, and the unity that carries us forward.”

Featured Collaborators
Gods Window Pt.1 is a collaborative tapestry woven from the voices and visions of exceptional artists. These collaborators are not simply features, they are integral to the narrative, regarded as full creative partners. Their inclusion aims to celebrate a collective spirit, where each artist brings unique energy, history, and contribution to the 3Step movement and Thakzin’s broader vision.

Collaborators include:

About Thakzin

Widely regarded as one of the most innovative South African producers of his generation, Thakzin (Thabang) has become a defining force in the global rise of African electronic music. His music has earned the support of legends including Black Coffee, Louie Vega, Keinemusik, and Laurent Garnier, with airplay on BBC Radio 1 (Benji B, Gilles Peterson, Pete Tong) and performances at festivals and clubs worldwide: from Ultra, Spring Fiesta, Rocking the Daisies, Bushfire, and Kunye in Africa to Fabric, AmaFest, ADE, Montreux Jazz Festival, and Djoon across Europe, and far-reaching tours in Asia, the Americas, and the Caribbean.

A quiet, grounded leader, Thakzin positions himself as a vessel for music rather than an ego-driven performer. For him, music is service to the ancestors, to the present community, and to future generations.
In 2025, Thakzin was named one of two Spotify Africa RADAR Artists, underscoring his role as a torchbearer for the next wave of African innovators. A 6-minute RADAR documentary will introduce him to global audiences ahead of the album release.
