Karl Alberg moves to the idyllic coastal town of Gibsons to become the new police chief and soothe a psyche that has been battered by big-city police work. Unfortunately, the gentle paradise has more than its fair share of secrets and murders continue to wash up on his shore.

Rossif Sutherland (yes, he’s Donald’s son) stars as Karl. As local librarian Cassandra, Kristin Kreuk (Smallville) won Best Lead Performance at the 2025 Leo Awards, where co-stars Myla Lowe and Dakota Guppy were also nominated. Murder In A Small Town also won Editing and Stunts prizes at the Canadian awards.

 

Also starring Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River) and Oscar nominee James Cromwell (Succession), Murder In A Small Town is based on the Edgar Award-winning crime novels by L.R. Wright.

Variety says the series “combines mystery and romance for a perfectly enjoyable experience… an all-inclusive crowd-pleaser.”
